Type IV for metal-ceramic, inlays, crowns, bridges & telescopic technique
Working procedure for CERA E
1. Indication. White dental alloy for metal-ceramic, inlays, crowns, bridges and telescopic
technique.
2. Contraindication. If patients are known to be allergic to any of the components, the
material should not be applied.
3. Sprueing. According to the indirect method: 3 mm ø for crowns, 3,5 mm ø for pontics,
runner bar 4-4,5 mm ø.
4. Investing. Invest in a reliable phosphate-bonded investment, such as
Carrara Universal DL Investment.
5. Burn out. Preheat at 800°C/1470°F for 30-120 min. depending on the size of the muffle
ring.
6. Casting. Casting temperature: 1280°C/2336°F in graphite crucible; or with the flame in
a ceramic crucible with for example Elephant Proflux. Use at least 1/3 new metal at each
casting. Clean the metal well before re-use, for example by means of sandblasting and
steam-cleaning.
7. Finishing. Use carbide burs and/or ceramic bonded stones. The final trimming must
be carried out in one direction only by means of fine crossteethed carbide burs! Sandblast
with 50-125 μm aluminum oxide (Alublast), (pressure max. 3 bar).
8. Cleaning. With distilled water ultrasonic or by means of a steam cleaner.
9. Oxidation. 3 minutes at 890°C/1630°F without vacuum.
10. Bake. With Carrara ceramic, cooling stage; 2-3 minutes.
11. Pre-soldering. Carrara 950°C/1740°F with for example Elephant Paste Flux.
12. Post-soldering. Carrara 750°C/1380°F or Elephant III 750°C/1380°F with
for example Elephant Paste Flux.
